I've been in a 90s hip hop mood lately. It's been a cross divide between the early (happier) sound of things like Pete Rock and DJ Premier productions. The other end of the spectrum is that grimey, hide-your-chains-because-the hoods-are-coming-out music (like Onyx, Mobb Deep, and MOP)l So this week I made a "happy chappy" mix (what up Alain!). The hood music (part 2) is coming soon. In the meanwhile, enjoy Timbs Go With Everything, Part 1. If you like it, leave a comment.
I've been bumping this HARD all week. And to all the naysayers: ANYONE can play Biggie, Pac, and Jay these days. NO ONE is playing Doo Wop white labels and the Large Professor Remix of Common (Sense's) Resurrection! Straight up, I didn't miss the well known tracks in the mix at all. It was more aimed toward the joints that we USED TO hear back in the day that you haven't heard in awhile. I almost blacked out on the highway when that Redman joint came on... All of those who live in Brooklyn know just what I'm talkin...Funkmaster Flex got back to his roots on Independence Day, spinning nothing but 90’s classics during a five hour marathon session on Hot 97.
You can check out the entire set at over at Rosenberg's World. Shout out to Peter Rosenberg for the hookup!
